Inspiration teacher training 6

When you train to teach with us, we will help you achieve the qualifications you need and the experience you need via exciting school placements. Whether you're leaving university and starting your training or choosing to change careers - you can climb the ladder with us. We’ll support you every step of the way.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

When you train as a teacher, you work towards achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). In order to be awarded QTS, you will need to evidence that you have met the Teachers’ Standards. This is something that you will be guided on throughout the year with the help of your mentor and course lead. Your progress will be continuously monitored by your mentor and course lead, and formally reviewed every half-term with a written report. At the end of the year, you’ll submit a body of evidence which demonstrates your progress.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

On top of QTS, you can also gain a postgraduate academic qualification, the PGCE. We offer a PGCE as part of your training year, validated by our university partner, the University of Suffolk.

Our PGCE places a strong focus on subject expertise and the teaching of your subject, and introduces you to key debates in teaching, meaning that you will be well-placed to enter into wider research-informed professional conversations as your career advances.

At Inspiration Teacher Training the course is delivered alongside your main teacher training, but is assessed separately to your QTS qualification. In order to achieve your PGCE, you will need to pass a series of assessments in education studies and subject studies.

Masters Credits

Your PGCE is worth 60 credits, which you can transfer to a full 180 credit Master’s degree.
